Voluntary health insurance provides the insured individual with the opportunity to utilize additional health services that are both within and outside the scope of mandatory health insurance. Both individual and group health insurance contracts can be established. The insured individual can choose the hospital in which to receive treatment. Group health insurance contracts can be established either through subscription service or through reimbursement of costs.
With voluntary health insurance through reimbursement of costs, the insured individual can receive treatment in a medical facility of their choice, paying for the medical services. The health insurance company then reimburses the costs incurred.
With voluntary health insurance through subscription service, the insured individual can receive treatment in medical facilities with which the health insurance company has established contracts; the costs of treatment are paid by the health insurance company.
